How We Work
Her Whiskey Reviews is for curious drinkers who want clear, honest tasting notes written by credentialed reviewers from diverse backgrounds — especially women and underrepresented palates. We write for the person who wants to know: “Will I like this? Should I buy it? How do I drink it?”
What you’ll see on every review page
- A short, plain-English Review Summary (like a TL/DR).
- A clear overall score plus five axis scores (Aroma, Flavor, Texture, Finish, Unique/True-to-Style) and a brief explanation of what those numbers mean.
- Practical guidance: suggested glassware, food pairings, whether it’s best neat or in cocktails, and quick gifting advice.
- A short “Would I pour this for my peer / bestie?” verdict — because social context matters.
Paid reviews and transparency
- We accept both editorial and paid reviews. If a review was paid for, compensated, or if the brand supplied the bottle, you’ll see a prominent disclosure at the top of the review (for example: “Paid review — compensation received from Brand X; bottle provided.”). Many of our reviewers receive media samples and can choose to post spirits that resonate with them.
- Paid reviews do not affect the scoring criteria. Our reviewers are compensated for time, tasting, writing, and promotion — but editorial independence and accuracy are non-negotiable. The full submission & transparency policy explains how we handle samples, payments, and reviewer conflicts.
How to use these reviews
- Shopping: read the Review Summary and the “Best For / Skip If” box first. If that aligns with your taste profile, the tasting notes will tell you what to expect.
- Gifting: check the gifting suggestion and MSRP in the “What You Need to Know” block.
- Learning: use the full tasting notes and score-breakdown to develop your palate over time.
